PRESENTATION ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Students in each section will be assigned to groups of 4-5 students for this assignment. The presentation group lists will be posted on MedTech under Ethics Session 1 after the first class. Groups 1 to 6 will follow the instructions below. Groups 7 and 8 will be participating in debates and will receive separate instructions.
2. Each group will be assigned an ethics scenario and given a self and group-assessment rubric three weeks prior to their presentation date, with guide questions to help them plan their (a) presentation and (b) peer-to-peer small group facilitation. The assigned time for each presentation and facilitated group discussion is 45 minutes. How the presentation tasks are divided and shared is determined by the group. However, if problems arise about this or any other matter that you are unable to resolve yourselves, please contact your instructor immediately so she can assist.
3. The presentation can follow any format the group chooses but must not be longer than 20 minutes. For the remaining time, presenters are responsible for facilitating structured small group discussion using facilitation questions planned in advance. This small group discussion can be interspersed throughout the presentation (as breakout groups at key junctures) or can all be held at the end of the presentation. The instructor will work closely with each group to plan these small group discussions and will help with the facilitation in class as needed.
4. Each group will submit a presentation outline, anticipated learning outcomes and facilitation plan approximately 2-3 pages in length to their instructor no later than 10 days before the presentation date. The document can be in point form. The instructor will provide feedback within 24 hours and, together with the presentation group, will finalize readings and any other materials that their class section will be required to review prior to the presentation. The instructor will post these to Medtech.
5. After the presentation is completed, and where applicable, each group will send their presentation materials to their instructor for class posting.
